The visit to SUNY, New Paltz was an amazing experience. I spent a total of two weeks on campus. I presented at this University twice over the two weeks and spent time researching different areas of my research topic. The simple explanation of the Irish Education System (IDS) was valuable in terms of looking at my research from an international perspective. This allowed for me to view my research internationally while describing the context. The importance of context cannot be underestimated. This illustrates the background of where participants in a study are coming from. This also describes the intricacies of different diverse classrooms and circumstances. This valuable trip has prepared me for completing my doctoral research in more ways than one!
I visited UC Berkeley on Tuesday 28th October to the Embodied Design Research Laboratory (EDRL). The presentation consisted of a two-hour presentation on the game developed as part of my PhD. It was a mix of presentation and demonstration of the game itself. The visit was brilliant and I learnt a lot in terms of describing school contexts from an international perspective when describing the Irish Education System. Amazing experience and would go back in a heart beat!
