I am happy to say I completed my first half marathon. I am delighted with myself especially after the injuries etc a few weeks before the race. I'll be signing up for next year...contemplating a longer distance :) Less than two weeks to go before the race and I was just about over my horrible prolonged chest infection. It took about three weeks out of me, it probably never really went away since I had it last. So conclusion is... I was going to do the race but wasn't going to be a great race time. I wasn't be doing the race for time, that was never the challenge. For me the challenge was just to run the entire race! I might have the bug to join more races, we'll see..... my eye is on the 30km in October... slowly building myself up to a 42km race. I looked into adventure races as well. They seem really interesting with the kayaying element as well as cycling and running. I really enjoyed the Great Limerick Run and I'm already considering doing a different race next year. Registration is already open... hmmm. :) Watch this space!
